POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for processing state and federal tax payments and filing payroll tax returns. Responsibilities also include creating and balancing W-2 files, updating client tax information and addressing tax issues as necessary.

  • Process daily state and federal withholding payments as calculated by our software
  • File payroll tax returns as determined by state and federal agencies
  • Update client tax information as necessary
  • Resolve client tax issues in a timely manner
  • Update state unemployment rates as necessary
  • Create and reconcile W-2 files and work with vendor to upload to the IRS
  • Audit client invoices as necessary to ensure correct tax billing rates
  • Provide tax reports to clients as requested
  • Process tax adjustments as necessary
  • Assist in monthly reconciliations
  • Support accounting team with any Journal Entries when needed
  • Assist Controller with quarterly regulatory agency audits

Required Experience:

Minimum 4+ years of payroll tax compliance experience

Knowledge of HR Prism (HRP) and/or Master Tax software

Solid Business Solutions is an established, growing Professional Employer Organization ("PEO") in Katy/Richmond area in the Payroll/Human Resources Outsourcing Industry, looking to hire an experienced Payroll Specialist for our corporate team. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years as a Payroll Specialist with prior PEO, ASO, HRO or Payroll Service Company experience. Experience with HR Pyramid/Prism HR software, strongly preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position requires a professional level of customer service in all aspects of payroll related issues, including but not limited to system input, reconciliation, preparation of payroll reports/forms, employee data, benefits, PTO and other employee deduction reconciliation. Payroll Specialist is accountable and responsible for all aspects of ongoing service for clients with all levels of complexity and proactively ensures ongoing client satisfaction and high client retention.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains a client base of payroll clients relevant to size and complexity associated with an experienced payroll specialist
  • Contacts client primarily by phone to obtain necessary information, build relationships, and communicate Solid's, Federal & State updates
  • Trains clients on all processes and Solid's daily cut-offs
  • Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with clients, coworkers and internal partner departments
  • Researches and resolves more complex client/system issues or inquiries
  • Serves as subject matter expert for book of clients assigned
  • Stays abreast of federal/state regulations and changes that impact payroll processing
  • Responsible for accurate payroll processing for client's worksite employees ensuring that client utilizes appropriate processing procedures and compliance regulations
  • Works with existing payroll team to accurately and timely process weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly multi-state payrolls for Multi-State client base
  • Review year-end check list with clients and takes on projects at year end as needed
  • Responsible for Quality Control Check for Processed Payrolls
  • Interfaces regularly with Human Resources and Benefits departments for payroll related issues
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with strong organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-through to resolve issues
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Associates Degree or Equivalent and two years' experience processing high-volume payroll; or Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience processing multiple payrolls for assigned client base preferably within PEO/ASO or Payroll Processing Company setting
  • HR Pyramid/PrismHR minimum 1 year experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Excel
